The Edmonton Awards of Excellence in Housing recognizes excellence in the residential construction industry within the Capital Region.

 

In 2009, the CHBA Edmonton Sales and Marketing Awards, more popularly known as the SAM Awards were changed to the Awards of Excellence in Housing. 

 

CHBA Edmonton President Patrick Adams commented that in addition to changing a few award categories, the format of the judging was altered because the CHBA-ER wanted to raise the bar. The result was to use two distinct judging panels. Initially, 30 volunteer judges, using their experience and knowledge, donate their time to determine the top five finalists in each category. Then, winners are chosen by a second panel of experts who know and understand the home-building industry along with what constitutes excellence.
